Askyo vs Typeform

Typeform set the aesthetic standard for surveys. Here is the honest comparison: where it still wins, and where Askyo does more for less.

Which one to pick

Pick Typeform if

  • you want self-serve card billing in dollars today
  • you need Salesforce and SMS follow-ups out of the box
  • a client requires data stored in the EU
  • your marketing stack is built around Typeform integrations

Pick Askyo if

  • you want to see the logic as a diagram rather than a list of rules
  • you need thousands of responses a month on the first paid plan
  • the survey has to run on your own servers
  • you want list, paged or chat mode as well as one question at a time

In short

Typeform defined the one-question-at-a-time experience and is still excellent at it, with a large integration catalogue. Its Basic plan includes 100 responses a month, and choosing a US or EU data centre is an Enterprise feature. Askyo offers the same one-at-a-time mode, a visual graph editor for logic, 5,000 responses a month on Pro and a self-hosted build. Typeform details were checked against typeform.com/pricing on 27 September 2026.

Where Typeform is strong

  • The reference implementation of the one-question-at-a-time experience
  • A large integration catalogue, with webhooks from the Basic plan
  • AI form generation and score calculation through logic
  • A US or EU data centre and SSO on Enterprise

Where Askyo is ahead

  • A visual graph editor: all the branching sits on one diagram
  • 5,000 responses a month on Pro, while Typeform Basic includes 100
  • Four ways to take a survey in one builder: list, one-by-one, pages and chat
  • A 35 KB script widget rendered in Shadow DOM
  • A self-hosted build for organisations that cannot use a vendor cloud
  • The survey exports as a JSON file you can keep and re-import

When Typeform is the better choice

The honest part: cases where switching is not worth it.

Self-serve card billing

Typeform sells its plans in US dollars by card, with a trial on the higher tiers. Askyo prices are in roubles and English-language customers currently pay by invoice after a request form. If you need to sign up and pay by card in five minutes, Typeform is simpler.

A large integration catalogue

Typeform connects to a large catalogue of apps, and its Growth plan adds Salesforce and SMS follow-ups. Askyo sends responses to webhooks, Telegram, Slack and Google Sheets, but a US-centric marketing stack plugs into Typeform with less work.

EU data residency

If a client insists on EU storage, Typeform Enterprise lets you pick a US or EU data centre. Askyo’s cloud runs in Russia; the alternative is our self-hosted build on your own infrastructure, wherever it sits.

A Typeform alternative with more responses per plan

According to typeform.com/pricing, Basic includes 100 responses a month, Plus 1,000 and Business 10,000. Removing Typeform branding starts on Plus. Prices are in US dollars.

Askyo Pro at 1 490 ₽ a month includes 5,000 responses; Team at 3 500 ₽ includes 15,000 and five users. For a survey that collects more than a hundred responses a month, the gap in allowances matters more than the gap in price.

Vendor cloud or your own server

Typeform is a cloud service; choosing between its US and EU data centres is an Enterprise feature. Askyo’s own cloud runs on Yandex Cloud in Russia, which is not an advantage for most English-speaking teams, and we will not pretend otherwise.

What we do offer is a self-hosted build on the Enterprise plan: the builder, the runner and the data on your servers, licensed once or by subscription. The survey itself also exports as a JSON file, so it is never locked inside our dashboard.

Moving your surveys from Typeform to Askyo

Askyo has no importer, from Typeform or from anywhere else. A survey is rebuilt by hand. This is the order that takes the least time.

  1. Save your Typeform responses with whatever export your plan provides. They do not move into Askyo, so keep the archive yourself.
  2. Copy the question texts and answer options out of Typeform into one document, in order, with a note on where each branch leads.
  3. Open the Askyo builder and paste that text into the Yo assistant. It drafts the survey and shows every change before applying it; the free plan includes 10 Yo requests.
  4. Check the question types: turn a 0–10 scale into an NPS question, a grid into a matrix, and phone or email into fields with input validation.
  5. Build the logic on the diagram: drag arrows from answer options to the next questions, then walk through every branch yourself.
  6. Publish, swap the old link for the new one, and put the one-line widget on your site.

The verdict

Typeform is a genuinely good product, and if you want a polished vendor cloud with self-serve card billing today, it is the safer pick. Choose Askyo if you want the logic to be visual rather than a list of rules, far more responses per plan, or the ability to host the whole thing yourself, and you do not mind paying by invoice while international card checkout is still on our roadmap.

Frequently asked questions

Typeform or Askyo: common questions

Does Typeform have a free plan?

Yes. Typeform says its free plan includes basic features and a limited number of responses per month. The first paid plan, Basic, includes 100 responses a month. Askyo Free gives you 5 surveys and 150 responses in total, and Pro at 1 490 ₽ includes 5,000 responses a month.

Does Askyo look like Typeform?

Askyo has a one-question-per-screen mode with transition animations and layout settings. The same survey can also run as a list, as pages or as a chat, and you switch without rebuilding it. We do not copy Typeform’s look: your own style comes from the theme.

Can I import a Typeform into Askyo?

No, Askyo has no Typeform importer. The survey is rebuilt by hand: copy the questions as text and give them to the Yo assistant, which drafts the survey. You then draw the jumps on the diagram and keep your old responses in a Typeform export.

How do I pay for Askyo from outside Russia?

There is no international card checkout yet. Paid plans on the English site lead to a request form, and we invoice you. Prices are in roubles. The free plan needs no payment at all, so you can build and test a survey before talking to us.

Can I host Askyo myself?

Yes, on the Enterprise plan. The self-hosted build runs the builder, the survey runner and the data on your own infrastructure, licensed once or by subscription, with support and updates. It suits teams that cannot put respondent data in any vendor cloud.

Ready to try Askyo instead of Typeform?

Start on the free plan; migration on request. We will move your existing surveys by hand if you need it.
